Mike McNamara | Bob Carr | Graham Every | Chris Leggett | Bart Terryn Mike McNamaraMike has more than 25 years experience in IT with a variety of software and hardware vendors including over 12 years providing SGML/XML Content Management and Publishing production solutions to a wide variety of high profile UK and European Commercial and Aviation Publishers. Mike is able to offer a number of specific IT consultancy services including: Product Needs Analysis, Content and Production Workflow Analysis, Project delivery management and Product roll out as well as Hardware platform evaluation and sizing. Bob CarrBob has more than 25 years experience in the typesetting and printing industry, including more than 12 years working with composition and pagination applications including XyEnterprise XPP products. Several years in production environments, as system manager and department manager have enhanced his expertise in all aspects of publishing. Bob is uniquely qualified to deliver services such as Production Pre-Press and Workflow Analysis, Consulting and Project management, Training, either standard or customised in all XPP functions and Pre-Press Product integration. Graham EveryWith over 25 years experience in IT, Graham has for the last 11 years has been supplying Document Analysis sessions to a wide variety of companies (Publishing, Telecommunications etc.) and subsequently then writing the Document Type Definitions (DTD’s), in both SGML and XML. Graham has over six years of OmniMark programming experience and has written OmniMark scripts to convert data from non-SGML/XML formats (e.g. 3B2, Quark, XyEnterprise and RTF) to SGML/XML/HTML, and from SGML/XML back to propriety formats, as well as SGML/XML/ HTML. Graham also presents hands-on lectures on SGML and XML. Presented from the Standards point of view, the lectures deal with the practical usage of SGML/XML in the real world. Graham can also train users in SGML/XML Editors, such Abortext’s Epic, and Softquad’s XMetaL products and the OmniMark programming language. Chris LeggettChris has more than 25 years experience in the production of high-end quality publications including Tax works, Loose-leaf publications, educational works and catalogues. An increasing percentage of these works being batch paginated directly from XML/SGML files. Using state of the art pagination software running on state of the art Dell server/client platforms, we are able to produce complex work with a minimum of fuss streamlining production and controlling costs to give total control over all elements of page production. Bart TerrynBart has been involved in IT for over 20 years, as both a user and vendor working with hardware and software. In a recent project, Bart led the overall development for a major publishing site, managing the selection process and implementation of a high-end SGML Loose-leaf and XML scientific publishing solution. Covering Perl programming, SGML/XML publishing, XSLT transformations, UNIX system management, hardware and product integration. Bart’s skills can be utilised in both Content Management and high-end Publishing projects.
